Inspections

Building projects are inspected during construction to assure compliance with approved plans and adopted Codes and regulations. Inspections are assigned to the permit based on the work that is being done. Each stage of construction is inspected. Work cannot proceed without inspector approval. All required paperwork must be in our file before the inspection is requested.

The inspector leaves a copy of the inspection worksheet with the inspection results or a correction notice at the job site if possible. Inspection results are also available on the Interactive Voice Response System at 843-341-4677. If you are a contractor registered with the on line permit program, you can access inspection results via the internet.

A Certificate of Occupancy or an approved final inspection is required. Inspectors are available to provide information regarding regulations and inspections from 8:00 am until 9:30 am or from 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Re-inspection fees may be assessed when the permit card is not properly posted on the work site; the approved plans are not readily available to the inspector; access for inspection is not provided; the work was not ready for inspection or corrections were not made.
