Noise Ordinance Complaints
Should you have a noise complaint, you may contact the following people:
Monday through Friday 8 :00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. contact Code Enforcement Officer, Barbara Barrett at (843)341-4643 or Jeffrey Moran at (843)341-4642.
After 5:00 P.M. or Saturday or Sunday, you must contact the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office at 785-3618.
If you have previously contacted the Sheriff's Department and they have responded and requested the violator to turn the noise down, and the violator either turns the noise down for a while or the next night you have to call the Sheriff Department again, you have the following alternatives:
- Call the Town's Code Enforcement Division and request a violation letter be sent out to the violator, or
- Call the Sheriff's Office, give them a written statement and the Deputy will write the violator a citation. In the event that a citation is issued, you will be given a Court date and time by the Deputy so the issue may be presented to the Municipal Judge. A Deputy is unable to write a citation to prosecute without a written statement from you and your attendance in Court to testify.
Barking Dogs
It is unlawful for any person to allow any dog to bark to such an extent it disturbs the peace of any other person.
