Municipal Court Appeal Instructions

Notice of Appeal must be delivered to the Beaufort County Court Clerk in Beaufort within 10 days after your court date and a copy returned to the Town of Hilton Head Island Municipal Court. Forms for an appeal may be picked up at the Municipal Court on Hilton Head Island or the Clerk of Court's office in Beaufort. Your Notice of Appeal should contain the following information: your full name, address, phone number and a full explanation of your reason to appeal the Judge's decision.

Please note: Awaiting an Appeal does not excuse the fine amount due to the Court.

After filing your Appeal with Beaufort County, the court will then file your Appeal along with the Judge's return to the Court of General Sessions located in Beaufort. You will be notified by the County Clerk's Office as to your hearing for your Appeal. Note: when filing your Notice of Appeal with the Municipal Court, you may wish to bring a second copy to be stamped, "Received by the Court", for your records.
