Grants Administration Program

The Town actively applies for, and administers, a variety of Federal, State and private grants. Examples of successful grant awards include:

  • Intermodal Surface Transportation and Efficiency Act (ISTEA) funding the Town used to partially fund the construction of several pathways; including the Squire Pope Road, Beach City Road and US 278 to Crossings Park pathways;
  • Two Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to construct sewer systems in the Muddy Creek and Squire Pope Road neighborhoods;
  • A FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance grant that partially funded the Jarvis Creek drainage project;
  • A S.C. Forestry Commission grant paid for half of the costs to produce educational brochures and hold an Arbor Day Celebration.

The Town uses a variety of sources to research new grant programs that will assist staff to achieve the goals of the community. The Town of Hilton Head Island's grants administration program does not make grants to individuals or private organizations. For more information on the Town's grants administration program please contact the Planning Information Center at (843)341-4681.
