Redevelopment Strategies

Stoney/Skull Creek Area

Programs:

  1. Facilitate the establishment of a public open air market in the area to provide a location for local growers, artisans, and non-profit organizations to market their products and bring new activity to the area. This is envisioned to be a town wide program with locations in the BB2 and Chaplin redevelopment areas as well as here, with a rotating schedule of various vendors. The program would be run by an entity other than the Town.
  2. Establish a cultural trail system with signage along the pathways throughout the area, creating a physical and educational linkage between various parks and historical/archaeological sites. Create a brochure to educate the public about the trail, highlighting the cultural, historical, and environmental aspects of these sites. Expand to the rest of the Island in the future.
  3. Establish a public art program that celebrates the area's natural, historical, and cultural resources which will become a permanent and distinctive part of the area.
