1
Create a gateway statement at the western end of William Hilton Parkway in the Stoney area using signage and landscaping, and repeat an element of the graphic in street signs and directional signs throughout the area. These signs should use a standard design incorporating an element which is unique to the area. This will provide a unifying theme for the neighborhood and will help people find their way to various destinations. |
2
Construct a new road south of William Hilton Parkway from Spanish Wells Road to the Squire Pope Road intersection, to serve as an access road for properties in the area and provide a route for sewer service. Work with property owners to maximize the number of properties accessing the new road, and reduce the need for curb cuts along this stretch of William Hilton Parkway. Design the road with on-street parking and sidewalks to create a pedestrian friendly environment which encourages movement between businesses in the area. |
3
Construct Horse Shoe Road to connect Wild Horse Road to the signalized intersection on William Hilton Parkway at Spanish Wells Road, and close the median cut on William Hilton Parkway at Wild Horse Road (making that intersection right-in/right-out only). Horse Shoe Road will be designed to minimize impacts on natural resources and wildlife movement. (In Ten Year CIP) |
4
Construct new roads north of William Hilton Parkway to connect Horse Shoe Road and Wild Horse Road to Squire Pope Road. Work with property owners to design the road to minimize impacts on natural resources and to maximize the number of properties which can gain access to it, thus reducing the need for curb cuts along this stretch of William Hilton Parkway. Include the installation of utilities and pathways in this project.

5
Construct a landscaped median with left turn lanes where appropriate within the existing paved median on William Hilton Parkway to improve public safety by acting as a traffic calming device, slowing traffic through this neighborhood, and to improve the aesthetics of the area. (In Ten Year CIP) |

6
Build a pathway separated from the roadway along the north side of William Hilton Parkway from Jenkins Road to Gum Tree Road and remove the existing sidewalks, adding landscaping where feasible along the sides of the new pathway. (In Ten Year CIP.) |

7
Build a pathway separated from the roadway along the south side of William Hilton Parkway from the Welcome Center to Spanish Wells Road and remove the existing sidewalk, adding landscaping where feasible along both sides of the new pathway. (In Ten Year CIP.) |
8
Build a new pathway on the south side of William Hilton Parkway from Spanish Wells Road to Jarvis Park to provide safe pedestrian and cyclist facilities to Honey Horn and Jarvis Park. Install pedestrian crossing lights at the Gum Tree Road intersection. |

9
Improve the pedestrian crossings on William Hilton Parkway at the Squire Pope Road, Wild Horse Road, and Spanish Wells Road intersections utilizing textured and colored pavement in the crossings, low level lighting to assist with visibility, and improved signage, thus improving safety. (In Ten Year CIP.) |

10
Renovate the existing facilities at the Old School House Park on the south side of William Hilton Parkway and add additional facilities, fountains, public art, landscaping, and informational signage on the history of the park and neighborhood. This will enhance this park and create a gathering place for area residents and visitors, providing a physical connection between the land and the marshes and waterways, and a cultural connection with the past. (In Ten Year CIP) |
11
Construct a passive, natural park at the Ford Shell Ring site to provide educational opportunities on the Island's history, archaeology, and natural resources. This park should be designed with minimal disturbance yet allow views of Skull Creek from appropriate areas of the site (ie, along the creek shore) without adversely impacting the natural buffer. (In Ten Year CIP) |
| 12 |
Develop the Honey Horn property into a museum and historical interpretation center. |
| 13 |
Bury power lines along William Hilton Parkway, Squire Pope Road, and Spanish Wells Road (north of Jarvis Creek) to improve the aesthetics of the roadways and protect these important facilities during storm events. Consider relocation of power lines and burial of conduit in preparation for future power line burial as alternatives to avoid impacts on project scheduling. (In Ten Year CIP) |
