Special Event Boards

To announce a special event on one of the Town's three special events boards an application form must be completed and turned into the Planning Information Center.

The application for space on special events signs are available at Town Hall in the main lobby area or click here for the application in Adobe Acrobat format. The application form asks for the name, location, date, time and sponsor of the event and the sponsor's federal tax exempt ID number. If the event is tourism related, please include the number of expected attendees and event admittance fee. In addition the time frame the event is to be displayed on the sign and which sign preference for posting the event need to be completed on the application form. Signs may only announce events sponsored by nonprofit or public entity or a public service announcement.

The following guidelines are used in determining which events are posted on the signs:

  • Each request for space on the special events sign shall be ranked based on a point system.
  • If space is not available for all requests at any one time, priority shall be given to the event with the highest point total.
  • Events shall not be advertised for more than two weeks unless no other requests have been received for the additional time period requested.
  • Events shall not be advertised on more than two signs unless no other requests for the required space on the additional sign have been requested.
  • Requests must be received by the Administrator no later than one week prior to the event.
  • Copy must be limited to the name of the event, its date(s) and time(s), and its location unless other requests for additional space required have not been received.

Once the planning department has received the application form it will be reviewed and assigned a sign location if the above guidelines have been met.
