ZoningRezoning or a Zoning Map Amendment is an official change in the zoning district of a property, allowing different land uses and density (number of dwelling units or size of buildings) requirements on that property. Official Zoning Map for the Town of Hilton Head Island Variance is a departure from the strict terms or provisions of the LMO and where enforcement of the LMO would result in unnecessary and undue hardship to the applicant. As long as in granting the variance, the spirit of the LMO will be observed, public welfare and safety will not be diminished. Special Exception applications will be reviewed by the Board of Zoning Appeals.
