The Artist’s Gallery at Town Hall, an initiative of the Town of Hilton Head Island’s Office of Cultural Affairs, will open with a public reception at 3 p.m., Tuesday, October 2, at One Town Center Court.

Presented in partnership with the Arts & Cultural Council of Hilton Head, the gallery initiative celebrates contributions from Hilton Head Island’s arts community to the Town. The gallery's inaugural opening coincides with the launch of "Crescendo," a month-long celebration of the arts, culture and history on Hilton Head Island in October.

The works of 22 local artists have been selected for display in the exhibit at Town Hall. A blind jury of arts professionals and Town employees chose featured artists based on the quality of their work and their demonstrated artistic voice. The selected works include many different mediums including oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, fabric arts, photography and more. The artists range in age and experience from a high school student at Hilton Head Preparatory School to seasoned professionals.

"The Artist's Gallery is a public forum to celebrate and honor the working community of artists on Hilton Head Island and the great contribution these artists make to the aesthetic and culture of our island," said Jennifer McEwen, Director of Cultural Affairs for the Town. "We were thrilled to have received so many impressive submissions and have fit as many artists as possible in the space. We look forward to including more artists in future installations."

The gallery is set directly outside the Benjamin M. Racusin Council Chambers on the administration hallway, offering visiting officials, employees and citizens a welcoming and diverse display of art and culture from Hilton Head Island artists.
