SUBJECT: Temporary Road Closure – Dunnagans Alley

The Town of Hilton Head Island has retained a contractor to perform subsurface drainage evaluations where Dunnagans Alley enters the roundabout on its eastern end at Wexford Drive.  This work will require the closure of Dunnagans Alley to eastbound traffic at Wexford Drive, and is scheduled to take place, weather permitting, on Monday, September 29th, 2008 beginning at 1:30 p.m.  The work is expected to take only two to three hours, and the road will be reopened to eastbound traffic immediately following the work’s completion.  The work will not interrupt westbound traffic flow from the Wexford Drive roundabout onto Dunnagans Alley, nor motorists passing through the roundabout in either direction of Wexford Drive.  Further, the work will not affect the ability of eastbound motorists on Dunnagans Alley to access the Village at Wexford shopping center or other commercial driveways served by Dunnagans Alley.  A sign will be placed on Dunnagans Alley at Arrow Road to advise eastbound motorists that the road is closed to through traffic, but open to local traffic wishing to access the commercial properties served by this segment of Dunnagans Alley.

Motorists are asked to exercise caution in the vicinity of the work area. Eastbound motorists that normally use Dunnagans Alley to enter the roundabout at Wexford Drive should use William Hilton Parkway as an alternate route while the work progresses.
