Hilton Head Island is known worldwide as a resort destination with beautiful beaches, great golf, tennis, water sports, biking, wonderful restaurants and magnificent natural beauty. Our community also has other very special assets - historical sites, cultural and arts activities, groups and venues that add significantly to our quality of life. Advancing the arts, culture and history is an important factor in maintaining a diversified, strong local economy, which will help to sustain the prosperity of our island.
In December 2014 the Town Council asked the Community Services Committee to determine the role of the Town Government in supporting the Arts & Cultural mission of Hilton Head Island. In response to this request, the Community Services Committee created the Arts & Cultural Strategic Planning Committee to study the subject and make recommendations to the Town Council as to what the town government’s role should be in supporting Hilton Head Island’s arts and culture community.
The Arts & Cultural Strategic Planning Committee is asking for input from the residents of Hilton Head Island on questions related to programming, collaboration, economic impact and funding for the future of the Island's arts and cultural activities.
Two meetings have been established for the purpose of soliciting input from members of the Hilton Head Island community. The dates, time and location for these meetings are:
