Hilton Head Island Town Hall Closes to Public; Town Staff Still Available to Assist Citizens

The Town of Hilton Head Island announced today that, effective Monday, March 23, Town Hall will be closed to the public until further notice to protect citizens, Town Hall visitors and employees, and minimize opportunities to spread COVID-19 in our community.

Town staff will be available to respond to public requests by phone or email. The public is also encourage to access some services online through the Town's website at www.hiltonheadislandsc.gov.

"The health and well-being of the community as well as our Town staff is a top priority. We would like to reassure our citizens that we are taking the necessary steps to address their needs," said Town Manager Steve Riley. "In addition, we are taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of the employees that provide those services by encouraging best practices like social distancing, cleaning of work areas and frequent hand-washing."

If you need to conduct business with the Town, here is what you need to know:

Development Applications and Permits:

For general questions related to building or development applications and permits, please call 843-341-4757 or e-mail cdic@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.

Building or development applications and permits can be submitted either via the Town’s website through the Building and Development Citizen Access Portal (CAP) (https://service.hiltonheadislandsc.gov/CitizenAccess/Site/Public/Main) or by submitting the application to cdic@hiltonheadislandsc.gov.

Payments can be made online or over the phone.

All building and development related applications and permits are available on the Town’s website (https://hiltonheadislandsc.gov/publications/forms/bldgdevforms.cfm).

Business License Renewals:

Business owners are encouraged to complete renewals online by the April 30 deadline. To access this service, go to the Town’s website at www.hiltonheadislandsc.gov and select the Online Services tab; in the drop down box, click on the Business Related Fee/Tax Payment link. Enter your business license number and your PIN code from your renewal form. Follow the instructions to make your payment.

Exceptions to the on-line renewal process are business licenses requiring special processing such as but not limited to mobile food operators, distributors of pool tables or amusement machines and taxi accounts. Business owners in these categories should call the Revenue and Services office at 843-341-4677.

Penalties and late fees associated with business license renewals will be waived through June 30, 2020.
