Join us for our first Open House Meeting designed specifically for contractors! Meet the Town of Hilton Head Island’s Building Official team as they discuss the important updates about upcoming changes to our processes and inspection procedures aimed at improving efficiency and service. • Discuss an impending change to our inspection request procedure.
• Explain a new inspection procedure for re-roofing permits.

New Hours for Commercial Construction, Repair Work and Landscaping Activities

Per an amendment to Town ordinance, commercial construction, repair work, and landscaping activities are now restricted to the hours of 7 am to 7 pm, and are prohibited on Sundays, as well as New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Non-commercial yard work is still permitted daily — including Sundays and recognized holidays — between 7 am and 10 pm. Please note: this amendment does not override any private restrictions. If a private PUD or POA enforces stricter rules, those take precedence over Town regulations.

Reminder:  Checklists are required to be submitted with all building applications. The checklists assist in a speedy submittal process. Incomplete or incorrect checklists will result in applications being turned away.
