To qualify to purchase a beach parking permit you must be a Hilton Head Island resident as evidenced by one or more of the documents outlined below.

Resident Beach Parking Permit Renewal Issues

On December 12, 2023, emails were sent to all residents who applied for the 2023 Beach Parking Permit online with a link to renew their parking permit for 2024. Due to an unexpected high number of initial responses, the ParkLync system experienced issues. The majority of information submitted has been received properly and we are processing renewals as quickly as possible.

Everyone will receive an email confirmation of their renewal being accepted as they are processed. Due to the extremely high volume of renewals, we are attempting to process and approved renewals within 24 - 48 hours.

If you do not receive an email confirmation, please resubmit your renewal online to ensure that it was received and processed correctly. We apologize for any inconvenience.

To purchase a beach parking permit, the applicant must provide documented evidence of at least one of the following:

  • Residential property owner's tax bill or closing documents within Hilton Head Island Town limits
    (This shall include 4 percent, 6 percent, and partial-deed or time-share ownership of greater or equal to 183 days. However, a timeshare with less than 183 days of annual occupancy and properties that are utilized as short-term rentals are NOT eligible to receive a beach parking pass.)
  • A current Residential Rental/Lease agreement within the Hilton Head Island Town limits with a term greater than or equal to 183 days.
  • Exceptions may be made for vehicles transporting island residents. These may include vehicles registered to assisted living facilities, places of worship, community and/or civic organizations, and other similar entities owning property and operating within the Hilton Head Island Town limits.

Additional Required Documentation:

  • Vehicle Registration
  • A valid SC DMV golf cart registration must be provided to obtain a beach parking pass for a golf cart.

About the Beach Parking Permit

  • The beach parking permit is valid from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023 at designated Town beach parking lots and spaces.
  • The permit allows parking at the 135 beach permit spaces at Islander's Beach Park and the 30 beach permit spaces at Driessen Beach Park.
  • Vehicles with a valid permit are not required to pay for metered parking at any of the Town's public beach access parking lots.
  • Beach parking permits are limited to two vehicles per address.
  • The cost of the permit is $15 per vehicle.
  • The 2023 Beach Parking Permits are digital.

Step 2. Attach copies of the required documentation.

To purchase a beach parking permit, the applicant must provide documented evidence of at least one of the following:

Step 3. Submit Payment of $15 per Vehicle

* Limit of two vehicles per address

  • Online Application Payments:
    • Pay online with an E-Check or Credit Card
  • Mail in or In Person Payments:
    • Include check or money order for $15 per Vehicle payable to the PCI Municipal Services.

You have your beach parking permit...now what?

  • The beach parking permit is valid from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 at designated Town beach parking lots and spaces.
  • The permit allows parking at the 135 beach permit spaces at Islander's Beach Park and the 30 beach permit spaces at Driessen Beach Park.
  • Vehicles with a valid permit are not required to pay for metered parking at any of the Town's public beach access parking lots.
  • Vehicles must be parked in a designated parking space. Any vehicle not parked in a designated space (i.e. on the road shoulder, in a No Parking zone, etc.) is subject to towing at the owner's expense.
  • The beach parking permit is only authorized for the vehicle for which it is issued. Improper usage or transfer of a permit may subject the permit to revocation.
