Construction of a new restroom building and related site improvements at Old Schoolhouse Park will begin Monday, November 10, 2025. Work will take place from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 5 pm. The site improvements will include the addition of an accessible parking space in the existing parking lot, a new sidewalk connecting the lot to the pickleball courts, and a new unisex restroom. The work also includes replacing the six existing pickleball courts. All amenities will be built in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The restroom building will also include a small, covered area with a water bottle filling station and a storage room for recreation equipment. Park users will continue to have access to the existing pickleball courts until construction begins later this year to demolish and replace them. All work at the park is expected to be completed in February 2026. The public is advised to observe and follow all posted caution signs at the project site. "Pickleball players use this park frequently, so we wanted to make sure that the courts are in great shape and that park visitors have access to amenities such as a restroom. Adding these facilities and making the necessary improvements are part of our overall goal to create spaces that promote health, connectivity, environmental sustainability, and a high quality of life for all residents," said Town Manager Marc Orlando. Mayor Alan Perry concurred. "Communities thrive on good recreational facilities that are accessible and inclusive. The work being done in this park is a prime example of the Town's commitment to enhancing our parks and providing the best amenities for both our residents and visitors," he said. The site improvements are aligned with the Town Council's Fiscal Years 2026-2028 Strategic Action Plan Goal #10: Enhance community well-being through implementation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and program enhancements. A part of the strategy is to improve facilities that align with community needs. Currently, Old School House Park has six pickleball courts that are used daily by as many as 40 pickleball players.
