Beach Renourishment Phases 1 and 2 Project Update 18

Construction activities at Port Royal and Singleton Beach areas

This Week's Progress (November 29 - December 5)

Marinex Construction completed sand placement along Port Royal Sound in the area known as the "heel" of Hilton Head Island, and began installing pipes to the Bay Point Shoals Borrow Area — the sand source — for phase two of beach renourishment in the central part of the island.

Cape Romain Contractors worked on the breakwater structures at Pine Island Beach, a project that will take several months to complete.

Looking Ahead (December 6 - 12)

Marinex Construction will start beach renourishment at Singleton Beach in the central part of the island and will continue pumping sand south from that area.

Cape Romain Contractors will continue working on the breakwater structures at Pine Island Beach. Pine Island Beach remains closed during this phase.

Please be mindful of the following:

• Portions of Islanders' Beach Park will be closed to vehicular traffic and parking from now through the duration of the beach renourishment project. The public is advised to observe and follow all posted caution signs during the work period.
• Only those residents whose vehicles are registered with a Town-issued beach parking permits are authorized to park in the remaining available, non-metered spaces.
• Alternative nearby beach access and parking is available at Folly Field and Driessen Beach parks, and the Burkes Beach Road access.
