Hilton Head Island Convenience Center

Convenience Centers are trash and recycling drop-off stations open to Beaufort County residents.

  • Commercial businesses are required to contract with a private company for their hauling and disposal needs.
  • Anyone may drop off eligible recyclable materials at the Hilton Head Island Convenience Center.
  • Resident decals are required to dispose of non-recyclables and solid waste.

Decal Required for Convenience Center Usage

Decals will be required for all Beaufort County property owners in order to use County Convenience Centers to dispose of non-recyclables and solid waste.

  • One decal will be issued per Beaufort County property owner.
  • Each household will be allowed three visits per week to a Convenience Center.
  • Convenience Center staff will be checking decals confirming only Beaufort County residential property owners are using the Convenience Centers.

What is Accepted at the Convenience Center?

  • Bagged household garbage
  • Bulky items: furniture, toys, and bulky household items
  • Clear glass, brown glass and green glass
  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Plastic # 1 & 2 (sodas, water bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, etc.)
  • Newspapers, magazines, cardboard, white office paper, pasteboard and mixed paper
  • Tires, batteries, oil and appliances
