Throughout the month of May, Town of Hilton Head Island staff will conduct biannual assessments of its 72 miles of public pathways to identify maintenance and improvement opportunities.
Town staff will be traveling on bike or foot along the pathways to collect data and record their observations. This effort is intended to improve the management of existing Town pathway infrastructure with more efficient and routine data collection by identifying and correcting issues before they become significant hazards or expenses. Additionally, this project will help identify future capital projects to expand the existing pathway network and enhance the experience of all pathway users with safe, efficient, and clean pathways.
The assessments are expected to be completed in June.
