Local entrepreneurs invited to “Money Talks” seminar series on sustaining small businesses

Local entrepreneurs are invited to participate in an engaging seminar series designed to help them develop and sustain their small businesses. Each session will feature expert-led discussions on key topics such as fraud prevention, funding opportunities, legal and tax considerations, and procurement strategies.

Sponsored for the second year by the Gullah Geechee Historic Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (CDC) and TD Bank, the “Money Talks” series will offer valuable insights and practical advice for business entrepreneurs. The five-part series will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Head Island Recreation Center, 20 Wilborn Road, on the following dates:

• Tuesday, July 22: Fraud awareness
• Tuesday, August 19: Lending – Navigating access to capital in a changing climate
• Tuesday, September 16: Legal and tax aspects of business ownership
• Tuesday, October 21: Nontraditional Lending
• Tuesday, November 18: Doing business with the Town of Hilton Head Island – procurement strategies

“We are excited to bring back the Money Talk seminars for a second year. This initiative was created to provide local entrepreneurs and those looking to start a business with the tools and knowledge to grow their businesses,” said Thomas Boxley, Executive Director of the CDC.

Last year’s series helped participants make significant strides in their business development, including:

• Opening three new business checking accounts.
• Establishing two personal checking accounts.
• Securing two $50,000 lines of credit.
• Launching two new merchant service accounts for accepting credit, debit, and cash payments.

“Based on last year’s feedback and results, it’s clear these sessions made a real impact,” Boxley added. “As we launch this new series, we look forward to exploring new topics while continuing to support local business owners on their path to financial success.”
