2022 Municipal General Election

The Town Council for the Town of Hilton Head Island is made up of a Mayor and six Town Council members. The Mayor is elected at-large and the six Town Council members are elected from the six wards within the Town.

Filing Period

Statements of Candidacy may be filed at Town Hall, One Town Center Court, starting at 8 am on Monday, August 1, 2022 until 12 pm on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Statement of Candidacy Form

The Statement of Candidacy form must be completed and signed at the time of submission.

Filing Fee

  • Mayor: $50
  • Town Council: $35

Candidate Requirements for Filing

  • Candidates filing for the Office of Mayor must reside within the Town of Hilton Head Island.
  • Candidates filing for the Office of Town Council may only run for the ward in which they reside.
  • Candidates must currently be registered to vote in the Town of Hilton Head Island.
  • Check Your Voter Registration Information

  • Candidates' voter registration must match their current residence.
  • This is a nonpartisan election. No political party affiliation will be placed on the ballot for any candidate.

Terms of Office

The Mayor and each member of Town Council shall be elected for a term of four years.

  • Upcoming terms will run December 6, 2022 - December 1, 2026.
