Town of Hilton Head Island buying former Wild Wing Café property

August 17, 2023

The Town of Hilton Head Island has contracted to purchase 1.8 acres at 72 Pope Avenue for $4 million from Coligny LLC. This property was once the site of Wild Wing Café.

The Town opted to purchase this property to obtain greater control over the site’s future use and its proximity to Coligny Beach and Lowcountry Celebration Park. Given its location, the Town may use this property to provide additional parking for the beach and park and other opportunities that will directly contribute to the public's enjoyment of these areas.

"Opportunities to purchase land like this do not come up very often. This space can both protect and improve our beach and park experiences on the South end of the Island," said Hilton Head Island Town Manager Marc Orlando.

The Town will complete a title search, boundary survey, and environmental assessment before closing on the property. Following its formal acquisition, Town Staff and Town Council will work to develop more detailed plans on the best uses and redevelopment of this parcel.
