Town of Hilton Head Island Offices to Close Wednesday and Thursday

Due to the anticipated weather impacts from Hurricane Idalia, the administrative offices of the Town of Hilton Head Island located at 1 Town Center Court will be closed on Wednesday, August 30, and Thursday, August 31.

All Town parks will remain open, but restrooms and other park facilities will be unavailable during this period. Town emergency services will continue to operate and can be reached by calling 911 in case of emergencies.

The Town will resume normal business operations at 8 am on Friday, September 1.

Additionally, the following information has been announced:

• The Beaufort County School District will have eLearning and remote workdays for its students and staff on both Wednesday and Thursday. All district buildings will be closed on these days. Extracurricular activities and afterschool programs scheduled for August 30 and 31 have been canceled.
   
• The Beaufort County Convenience Center at 26 Summit Drive will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation of the storm.
   
• The Hilton Head Island Airport will operate normally at this time, however as Hurricane Idalia approaches, travelers need to check with their carriers for any possible flight delays, cancellations, and waivers.
   
• The Lowcountry Regional Transportation Authority (Palmetto Breeze Transit) is suspending all transportation services on Wednesday to ensure the safety of all passengers and employees as Hurricane Idalia approaches the Lowcountry. The services suspended include all Palmetto Breeze commuter services, the Breeze Trolley service, the Bluffton Breeze fixed-route service, the Walterboro Works fixed-route transit service, and the Daufuskie Island Ferry Shuttle service, as well as all demand-response and coordinated services. The LRTA administrative offices will also be closed Wednesday.

The Town's Emergency Management team will be closely monitoring the progression of Hurricane Idalia, which is predicted to bring severe weather conditions as a tropical storm to the Island from Wednesday through Thursday.

To ensure your safety, Hilton Head Island residents and visitors are strongly advised to take essential storm precautions and stay well-informed by obtaining accurate and up-to-date information about the storm from official government sources.
