Jacob Schreib Named 2023 Employee of the Year for the Town of Hilton Head Island

Jacob Schreib, who uses his tech wizardry to solve computer, phone, and other technical issues for his co-workers, was officially named the 2023 Scott Liggett Employee of the Year for the Town of Hilton Head Island.

The honorary award was announced this week at the Town’s employee holiday luncheon and is named in memory of Scott Liggett, a long-service Town employee who passed away unexpectedly in February 2021. The Town established the award in 2022 as a testament to Liggett's remarkable work ethic and dedication as the former chief Town Engineer and Director of Public Projects & Facilities.

"It's a thrill to give this award to someone who works hard every day to make a difference in our community and foster a commitment to excellence that reflects Scott's legacy," said Town Manager Marc Orlando. "There were many great nominees, proof that so many people are working to make our organization great and inspire us to go above and beyond to create an Island that is the best in the world not just this year, but for years to come."

Jacob, a Help Desk Analyst, was chosen from 16 other deserving employees from various departments in the Town, all of whom were nominated by their peers and co-workers.

Jacob has been working at the Town for just shy of two years.  In that time, he has made a difference in the Technology and Innovation Division and the Town as a whole. In his nomination, co-workers described Jacob as a proactive problem solver who takes on technical challenges while bringing a deep sense of responsibility and a relentless pursuit of excellence to every task, all with a positive attitude.

"It's truly an honor to be named Employee of the Year for the Town of Hilton Head Island," Jacob said.  "I am so fortunate to work with so many wonderful people at the Town. Thanks to everyone who nominated me and the senior staff for choosing me out of all these deserving candidates."
